I started playing the guitar at age 10, after hearing The Shadows. Since then, I listened to (and tried to play like ;)) various guitar players like Jimi Hendrix, Slash, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Steve Morse, etc. My first experience with playing in a band, was at age 14, in a Shadows cover band. After that I played in several cover bands, where I played pop, rock, blues, soul and funk covers.
Since about 1995, after hearing Dream Theater's Images and Words, I really got into progressive rock music. Listening to this kind of music, I got convinced that you can't catch music into rules, like ‘verse chorus bridge'. To me, music is about a lot of things: melody, harmony, rhythm, story lines, technique and, most of all, feeling. You need to master all these aspects. With the right people, you can combine these ingredients into your message to whoever wants to hear. That's what it's all about.
After doing a project, called NovoX, with the former Cliffhanger-members, I joined a progressive metal band, Art Of Deception. Shortly thereafter, I joined Knight Area, and the rest is history...
Next to being a guitar player, I'm married to Petra and we have a son called Chris. I'm a risk manager in the financial industry. It's a hectic life, but I enjoy every minute!
